  5. This README file contains information about installing Hard
  6. Evidence in Windows 95, changing the display to 256 colors, and
  7. using Video for Windows.

  9. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWS 95
  10. ========================================
  11.  
  12. 1 Insert the Hard Evidence disc into your CD-ROM drive.
  13.  
  14. 2 From the Windows 95 Start Menu, select Run.
  15.  
  16. 3 Type d:\setup, where d: is the letter for your CD-ROM drive,
  17. then choose OK.
  18.  
  19. 4 Type the directory where you want to install Hard Evidence,
  20. then choose OK.
  21.  
  22. 5 Follow the on-screen prompts until the installation is
  23. complete.

  26. REQUIRED DISPLAY SETTINGS

  29. To run Hard Evidence, you must set your display to
  30. 256 colors.
  31.  
  32. To change your display setting in Windows 3.1,
  33.  
  34. 1 From the Windows Program Manager, double-click the Main group.
  35.  
  36. 2 Double-click Windows Setup.
  37.  
  38. 3 Click Options, then click Change System Settings.
  39.  
  40. 4 Click the down arrow next to the display list box, then click a
  41. 256 color display option.

  44. To change your display setting in Windows 95, 
  45.  
  46. 1 From the Windows Start Menu, click Settings, then choose Control
  47. Panel.

  49. 2 Double-click Display.
  50.  
  51. 3 Click the Settings tab, then click Color Palette.

  53. 4 Click the down arrow to select a 256 color display option.

  55. 5 Click OK.

  58. VIDEO FOR WINDOWS SETTINGS

  61. For Hard Evidence to run properly, Video for Windows must be
  62. set to run in a window and Zoom by 2 must be turned off.

  64. To change Video for Windows settings in Windows 3.1,
  65.  
  66. 1 From the Windows Program Manager, double-click the Main Group.
  67.  
  68. 2 Double-click Control Panel.
  69.  
  70. 3 Select Drivers.
  71.  
  72. 4 Highlight [MCI] Microsoft Video for Windows.
  73.  
  74. 5 Click Setup.
  75.  
  76. 6 Make sure Video Mode is set to Window.

  78. 7 Make sure Zoom by 2 is not selected.

  81. To change Video for Windows settings in Windows 95,
