This README file contains information about installing Hard
Evidence in Windows 95, changing the display to 256 colors, and
using Video for Windows.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWS 95
========================================
1 Insert the Hard Evidence disc into your CD-ROM drive.
2 From the Windows 95 Start Menu, select Run.
3 Type d:\setup, where d: is the letter for your CD-ROM drive,
then choose OK.
4 Type the directory where you want to install Hard Evidence,
then choose OK.
5 Follow the on-screen prompts until the installation is
complete.
REQUIRED DISPLAY SETTINGS
=========================
To run Hard Evidence, you must set your display to
256 colors.
To change your display setting in Windows 3.1,
1 From the Windows Program Manager, double-click the Main group.
2 Double-click Windows Setup.
3 Click Options, then click Change System Settings.
4 Click the down arrow next to the display list box, then click a
256 color display option.
To change your display setting in Windows 95,
1 From the Windows Start Menu, click Settings, then choose Control
Panel.
2 Double-click Display.
3 Click the Settings tab, then click Color Palette.
4 Click the down arrow to select a 256 color display option.
5 Click OK.
VIDEO FOR WINDOWS SETTINGS
==========================
For Hard Evidence to run properly, Video for Windows must be
set to run in a window and Zoom by 2 must be turned off.
To change Video for Windows settings in Windows 3.1,
1 From the Windows Program Manager, double-click the Main Group.
2 Double-click Control Panel.
3 Select Drivers.
4 Highlight [MCI] Microsoft Video for Windows.
5 Click Setup.
6 Make sure Video Mode is set to Window.
7 Make sure Zoom by 2 is not selected.
To change Video for Windows settings in Windows 95,
1 From the Windows Start Menu, click Settings, then choose Control
Panel.
2 Double-click Multimedia.
3 Select Window.
4 Select Original Size from the drop-down list.
